Wilson Reading System

Teachers using the Wilson Reading System (WRS) are certified through an intensive practicum course with specialized program workshops and membership to a web-based learning community called Wilson Academy.

Program Highlights

· Multi-sensory and interactive lessons for students ranging from the early elementary to high school and adult levels

·Teaches total word structure for decoding, encoding, overall fluency, spelling, and comprehension

·Each lesson is broken into 10 mini activities that include finger-tapping exercises, manipulating word cards, spelling using a magnet board and other materials, reading sentences and passages for fluency, and answering questions carefully designed for enhancing comprehension

·Teaches word construction according to six types of syllable formations

·High level of teacher and student interaction with every lesson

·Concepts reinforced through tactile/kinesthetic methods

·Progress and success measured using a criterion-based assessment

The Wilson Reading System is a highly regarded program for all types of readers. Many students requiring intensive intervention turn to the program, as well as students needing a boost in the areas of spelling, vocabulary, and reading speed. The Wilson Reading System will serve students with special needs, students receiving remedial reading instruction at school, and any students seeking improvement.

Lessons are delivered using interactive materials and exciting strategies. Individual and small group lessons are available when using this program.
